Assessment
We conduct an assessment that includes observations, questionnaires, and analysis of the maladaptive behavior. The purpose of the assessment is to determine the function (why the behavior occurs) of the behavior and the context in which it occurs.
Treatment Plan
We use the assessment to create a treatment plan that addresses the function of the behavior. The treatment plan will include procedures to help prevent the behavior from occurring and responding to the behavior after the behavior occurs. Additionally, the treatment plan will include procedures to help the behavior maintain and generalization to other places in which the behavior occurs.
Maladaptive Behaviors We Address
- Aggression: Hitting, kicking, biting, or other forms of physical aggression toward others.
- Self-Injurious Behavior (SIB): Behaviors like head-banging, hand-biting, or scratching oneself.
- Tantrums: Intense emotional outbursts, often including crying, screaming, or throwing objects.
- Non-Compliance: Refusal to follow instructions or engaging expected tasks.
- Property Destruction: Breaking, throwing, or damaging objects.
- Elopement: Running away from safe areas or caregivers.
- Pica: Eating non-food items, which can pose serious health risks.
- Disruptive Behaviors: Interrupting, shouting, or other behaviors that interfere with social or learning environments.
- Socially Inappropriate Behaviors: Behaviors such as inappropriate touching, stripping, or making socially unacceptable comments.
- Difficulty with Transitions: Resistance to changing activities or environments.
- Obsessive or Fixated Behavior: Intense focus on specific topics or objects that can interfere with other activities.
